Q: Does Yella's Messenger App support audio queries?
Yes, Yella allows you to speak your queries. And sends the responses back as text & audio. So, for example if you speak in Spanish. The text response and the audio response will both be in Spanish.
Q: I would like to stadrt a fresh conversation & wipe out my recent history. How can I do that?
Just text "/clear" in your chat. You will get a response from Yella showing "Cleared conversation history".
You can do this by recording a voice memo within Messenger. Hold down the Mic button & start speaking.
Q: For audio queries, what languages are supported?
Yella uses OpenAI's Whisper API to process your audio. The current set of supported languages includes the following:: Afrikaans, Arabic, Armenian, Azerbaijani, Belarusian, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Catalan, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, Galician, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Icelandic, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Kannada, Kazakh, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Macedonian, Malay, Marathi, Maori, Nepali, Norwegian, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish, Tagalog, Tamil, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Vietnamese, and Welsh
Q: How can you switch languages for audio queries?
You don't have to do anything....just ask your questions in whatever language you choose. But fyi, if you texted Yella or spoke in English e.g And immediately started speaking in say Kannada. ChatGPT will reply by sending text & we generate the audio for it in English (not Kannada ie). To avoid this, you can text "/clear" to Yella. This will clear Yella's conversation history. And now your queries in Kannada will be replied in Kannada. Try it...its pretty cool!
Q: Does Yella inside WhatsApp remember past conversation history?
Yes, Yella keeps track of your past queries to ChatGPT. So, you can ask "Where is Cambodia located?". The followup with "What is it's currency?". If you notice, "it" means "Cambodia". You dont have to repeat the context & can have a regular conversation with ChatGPT.
Q: Why does Yella's Messenger service store my PSID (on Messenger) or Telephone# (on WhatsApp)?
Yella's services store/retain a user's past questions for a limited amount of time (<24 hours). This is used to create some sort of historical context for the same user's current question. Only questions from the past 5 minutes are used to create this context.
Q: Does Yella only respond to English queries?
No, Yella supports all major languages (called hi-resource languages). However, its respones and understanding of low resource languages (like Kannada, Khmer...) is spotty and erroneous.
Q: Sometimes I get responses back much much later (maybe even a few hours). Why does this happen?
Ah, that's actually WhatsApp buffering+retries at work here. When a user question fails in the backend (on Yella infra ie), then Yella maybe has not sent a response back to WhatsApp. So, WhatsApp would retry this request later. This delyaed response is then forwarded by WhatsApp to your phone.
